History
Palm Beach Indivisibles
Our organization was founded January 2017 in an air plane hangar in Palm Beach County Florida by 3 pilots in response to the results of the 2016 presidential election. The Indivisible Guide, which provided an outline of ways to resist the newly elected president, had been published online by ex Congressional staffers Ezra Levin & Leah Greenberg and quickly became a national movement with Indivisible chapters forming in every state.
Our founders, Robb Aley Allan, John Studdard & Chic Kelty held weekly meetings in West Palm Beach to flesh out the organization and leadership team which started the resistance process. Along with the founders (who now have emeritus status) The team of Laura Cain, Mark Beaumont, Wes Boggs, Giovanna Pasquarelli, Melissa Winchester, Nikki Berlin & Lori Carr focused mainly on Issue support, reaching out to members of congress and participating in rallies, marches & protests.
Daily actions of phone calls, letter writing, emailing & tweeting were started, protests & office visits at Marco Rubio and Brian Mast offices started, Rallies to support the ACA and Planned Parenthood occurred. Town Halls with Lois Frankel and Adam Schiff occurred.
Members joined our organization primarily through our Private Facebook group and met at various downtown WPB restaurants, before settling in at the Stiles, Nicholson STEM building in Dreher Park across from the Science Museum. Some stayed on to continue the fight, others drifted out. We eventually added new leadership: Ron Matzner, Denise Ganz, Christelle Martin.
After 2 years of Resistance, we started Prosistance with a program called the Neighbor Network for Good Government (or N2G2 for short) in the lead up to the 2020 election. The program was focused on community organizing to help register voters and get out the vote and helped win Palm Beach County in record fashion for candidates who aligned with our ideals.
After the 2020 election results, we shifted focus to community outreach, particularly in underserved neighborhoods that were neglected in non election years. We felt we needed to show those communities they were valuable partners in creating a vibrant and thriving community and democracy. We continue that work today.
To be honest, we were not as active in the leadup to the 2024 election, but still had record turnout and victory for candidates who shared our ideals. The problem seemed to be elsewhere in the country, particularly in the swing states. So here we are, “Deja Vu All Over Again”….and working hard to preserve our democracy from autocracy, oligarchy and fascism. Thak you for joining us in this fight.
